About Kashrut at Ashreynu
We love sharing meals together! Please take a look at Rabbi Pearl’s guidelines for bring food to Ashreynu community events.
All food brought to communal meals should be dairy and/or pareve (i.e. without any meat or even any hints of it). All ingredients should be kosher, although it is OK to bring something that is homemade or does not have a hechsher (kosher certification marking on the package) as long as all ingredients are kosher.
If you have any questions or are in any doubt about whether something is kosher or not (e.g. gelatin and carnauba wax are generally not kosher), please reach out to Rabbi Pearl to clarify before preparing or bringing anything. Please note that ‘seafood’ is generally not kosher, while various fish are (such as salmon and tuna)
