Sh'mini Atzeret + Simchat Torah Shabbat

  • Ashreynu 2114 30th Avenue Queens, NY, 11102 United States (map)

Shabbat morning t’filah starts at 10AM. We close out Sukkot with the holiday of Sh’mini Atzeret, and a Simchat Torah celebration. Confused? Come learn all about the complicated ending of the holiday of Sukkot!

    • Hallel: special songs for Chagim (holidays)

    • Ending the Torah and beginning from scratch, with the book of Bereisheet. This is one of the most important and moving Jewish moments.

    • Yizkor: the service of remembrance.

    • Dancing with the Torah! We dance seven times in a circle with the Torah scrolls. These are called Hakafot.

    • Geshem: the seasonal prayer for rain.

    • Reading the megillah (scroll) of Kohelet.

Kiddush to follow.
